As a Vice-President responsible for the Bank' activities in power, energy, climate and green growth for both the public and private sectors, he created the Complex from scratch, recruited all the Directors and led the drastic increase of the private sector activities. Under his tenure, the Bank significantly increased its renewable energy investments and 100% of the investments in generation in 2017 was in renewable energy. Amadou has also launched various landmark programs such as Desert to Power, African Financial Alliance on Climate Change and the Green baseload under SEFA 2.0. He positioned the Complex as a leader on private sector investments in electricity production in Africa.

His goal was to return to Senegal to teach finance and economics at the University but an unexpected event totally changed his plans. During a very interesting conversation about capital markets activities, he convinced Hott to explore a career in investment banking. He then applied for an internship at several banks in Paris and finally accepted an intern position at Société Générale during the summer of 1996 even though the salary was significantly lower than that offered by summer jobs. Thus began his career in investment banking.

He followed a program of studies in financial mathematics at New York University as part of an Exchange program, after winning the scholarship offered by the two universities.

He then integrated the senior high school Seydina Limamoulaye where he obtained in 1992 his baccalaureate in Sciences (Maths and Physics)
Since 2015, Hott is a member of the Selection Committee of the USD 100 million Tony Elumelu Foundation supporting African Entrepreneurship Programme
Hott is nominated “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2012 among 192 leaders coming from 59 countries.
